The “Oh, Be Joyful” Lodge sits on Peak 8 above downtown Breckenridge with beautiful views of Peaks 6 and 7. It’s your stepping off point to miles of beautifully groomed trails located right out the back door.
It’s an architectural joy which needs to be experienced in person to be truly appreciated. It was designed with one goal in mind, to create a warm and inviting space which naturally welcomes everyone who enters it.
Construction of the lodge was begun in 2012 under the guidance of Gene and Therese Dayton. It uses indigenous wood from the area including 110 spruce trees that were felled to make room for the Breckenridge Ski Area gondola and and also incorporates locally harvested Pine Beetle wood. All the logs, including the huge Spruce and Douglas Fir log posts, were milled and lathed locally be the Dayton’s with the peeling and staining done by hand.
The lodge is the nucleus of the Breckenridge Nordic Center’s operation. It contains the Nordic equipment and clothing rental and retail space and is also where the guest check-in is located. Conveniently adjoining is a bar and family lounge area with a large fireplace constructed from Arkansas Moss Rock. You’ll enjoy spending time in the lodge’s old world feeling and enjoying great food and drinks. There’s a happy hour Friday thru Sunday between 3:00 and 6:00PM with specials that you won’t want to miss.
The lodge wasn’t built to just host world class Nordic sports. It is also Breckenridge’s premier Special Event and Banquet facility. The property is a private venue which is yours for your event and creates an experience that’s hard to duplicate, but easy to arrange. The Nordic Center can only be described in one way…. “Amazing!!!” The facility is fantastic, the views are breathtaking, the trails are well marked and maintained, and the staff and owners were Superb!!!! We came to downhill for our vacation but once we experienced the Nordic Center we spent most of our time in Nordic. Next time we won’t even be bringing our downhill equipment to Breck!!
